Convention with Gabe

Cassian's waiting at the counter for Gabe, today should be a good day for him to see the convention. And Gabe's eye for weapons will be useful for looking into the shadier deals that are happening and where Yamato's cover will stand out a little too much.

Cassian's dressed in his Willix cover of a neat blue suit.

"That sounds like a nice treat. I think I might have had it a party."

It seems like the sort of dish that Emcee would enjoy.

"It wouldn't surprise me. It's a nice finger food."

"Those are always useful for times when there isn't time to sit down."

"Or if there's no place to sit."

He's feeling pretty full now.

"What's next?"

"Back in there or out to the hangar to see more ships. Also there's a nice cantina next to the hangar."

Holy shit, yes cantina, that's not even a question.

"Can we bring drinks into the hanger?"

[childofrebellion]

"Yes, we can. Its not too far away."

[sticktothemission]

"Then cantina, grab a drink, explore the hanger more?" He raises his brows at Cassian. Good plan?

Cassian nods and shows Gabe where to put away their trash before heading towards the exit. The streets outside are busy with a mix of species as he heads to the hangar. Next to the hangar is the cantina which is very much a mechanics and pilots' space, its not as formal as other spaces.

He adopts more of Cassian's stance here, not wanting to stick out as a tourist. He's used to moving through crowds without drawing attention, just not ones with so many different shapes.

It's pretty fucking cool but he's still taking care not to gawk.

They don't stand out too much as there are clearly variously dressed people around. In the cantina, Cassian finds them a quiet table with good sight lines. When a waitress comes by, he orders two Alderaan ales. Here they can watch the people around them.

Gabriel gives the waitress a flirty wink, expecting she's probably used to it in a place like this.

She smiles back at him and gives him and Cassian a look over, "Want anything to eat?"

Cassian looks to Gabe with a questioning eyebrow.

He lifts a hand, a few fingers flicking up to wave off the offer.

"No, thank you, I'm still good from before."

It's tempting to order something just to keep trying things but he doesn't want to make himself sick, not take advantage of Cassian's generosity.

She nods and heads off soon to return with their drinks before heading into the crowd. Then Cassian takes his drink and lifts it to Gabe in a small salute.

Gabriel tips his glass towards him with a grin before taking a decent drag. It tastes as good as it smells and he smacks his lips.

"Pretty good trip so far." He nods to Cassian. "Thanks for letting me tag along."

"Nice to have the sort of time where people can visit." That's not always true with his work.

"If there's ever an excuse to have an offworlder to show around, an event like this certainly fits the bill."

Probably a lot safer than Cassian's usual missions, too.

"It does and they don't happen that often for me." He likes the chance to spend time with ships and show off vehicles.

"Did you ever race?"

Seems like something he'd be into, if he didn't have the rest of the galaxy to worry about.

"Only in sims or around where I was living if there was space."

He shrugs and sips at his drink, so many of those pilots he knew then are gone.

Cassian doesn't seem keen on the subject and Gabriel wonders if it's a sore one for him. He tries to shift the conversation a bit.

"Was that in the ship you have now?"

[childofrebellion]

"Not that often, ships are always on the move."

And while racing could help their skills, the ships had to be ready to use.

"And speed's not everything," he acknowledges with a nod. He considers that statement after a moment. "Probably get some argument with that given our current location." He grins.

Cassian laughs, "Every ship needs to have good handling along with speed."
