The Race

The stands are a mixture of good quality and finding seats where you can. Thanks to the help of Pan, Cassian was able to get Barry, Cisco and Gabe seats with a good view of what's visible of the track and then the screens showing the other sections.

Cassian's down with the ships with Yamato, Pan came by to help them but is now up in the stands.

The stands are full of a mix of species including at least one Hutt's entourage and a scattering of Imperials. Those with more money are in the higher levels while closer to the track the volume of everything is louder.

By the ships

Cassian's doing a last check of everything and noting the other ships and pilots.

Yamato's changed into his flightsuit, which he's tugging at awkwardly as he approaches Cassian.

"I feel like a fraud," he admits gruffly. Then: "I know that sounds stupid."

Still, it's one thing to agree to the race, and another to be here, with pilots who have probably done this for years around them, and presume to be worthy of competing with them.

"You're not a fraud, not when it comes to piloting."

Cassian says with complete certainty because he understands that feeling of not being real.

Cisco and Barry settle into their seats with snacks and a few souvenirs.

Looking over the crowd excitedly, Cisco snaps plenty of pics of both the ships and race course and all the people around them.

Throwing an arm around Barry, he pulls him for a picture.

"There are so many internet nerds out there who are going to be so jelly about this."

Barry takes in the scene, but mostly he's looking for Cassian and Yamato down on the track.

He does lean in for the selfie pic though, throwing up a pose and then shaking his head at Cisco.

"Dude, don't put those on the internet."

Cassian gave Barry a comm and it beeps now.

It takes Barry a moment to realize he's the one beeping, and then he draws out the comm and answers it.

"Hey," he greets smiling, a little giddy to be using this world's tech.

Cisco listens in while not so discreetly taking a selfie of himself with some of the nearby aliens in the background.

"I'm a little bit of a fraud," Yamato says dubiously. "How's the ship? And do we know anything new about the other pilots?"

"Have everything you need up there? We're in the third garage from the end."

Cassian lifts an arm to wave so they can see him.

"The ship's in the best condition it can be, you'll see when you do your own walk around. Nothing new, but I have the dossier on all of them here."

He hands over the datapad with all the info he could find.

"All right," Yamato says, looking over the datapad. "Who's the favourite to win? There's got to be someone, right, bookies must be having a field day taking bets for the race."

Barry sits up in his seat, raising his head to look for them, then gives Cisco a nudge and points out Cassian.

Raising his own arm, Barry waves back.

"Yeah, we're good," Barry replies with a grin. "We've got great seats up here."

Turning when Barry nudges him, Cisco looks until he spots Cassian, then he stands up and waves both arms in the air.

Cupping his hands around his mouth, Cisco shouts, and loudly, "WOOOOOOOOO! Kick some ass, Master Ilo!"

Lifting his phone in the air, it breaks out with an over the top airhorn sound.

Cassian laughs at their enthusiasm, "Good, check in if you need anything." Then he signs off.

"This one, Altax flying for someone without a lot of details which means either Imps or Hutts. Fastest and newest ship that probably has some hidden modifications."

"Altax, huh?" Yamato says, flicking to the appropriate part of the datapad. "If he's got a faster ship than us with hidden modifications, and he's good enough to fly it, beating him is going to be tough. Good thing I like a challenge, I guess."

He glances around the garage.

"Is he in this garage or another one? Seems like I should at least say hi to him before the race starts."

After all, that's just common courtesy between rivals.

Hah, there they are. Gabriel's been scanning the crowd trying to find where to join them, but Cisco's yell made their seats obvious. The arm waving helped, too.

He makes his way up to meet them, doing his best to keep his nerd grin in check. "Hey guys."

Cassian glances at the datapad and then pulls up a quick map of the garages, "He's two over and behind one."

"Okay, be back in a few."

Yamato doesn't necessarily plan on standing around chatting with Altax, but a little friendliness between competitors never hurt. Or a little bit of unfriendliness, depending on how this goes.

He follows Cassian's directions, keeping an eye out for whoever's face matches the one on Altax's datapad entry or, failing that, whichever ship looks the shiniest and newest.

When he finds the garage, its not the shiniest one, there's a sense of secrecy about it and a few men near the door who might be off duty 'troopers. A Weequay looks up from doing something to the engine and says, "You looking for something?"

"Just Altax. Figured I'd wish him luck in the race," Yamato says, giving the Weequay a quick nod.

"Will do," Barry says before signing off.

Looking over when Gabriel arrives Barry smiles.

"Hey, what's up man?" Barry asks, standing up from his seat, offering his hand and ready with the follow up shoulder bump and clap if that's Gabe's style.
