Mission with Yamato

Cassian reviews the mission briefing and identicard that he's put together for Yamato. This is the sort of mission that he needs Yamato's skills for, but he wants to insure that Yamato has all of the intel before he agrees to anything.

He sips his caf at the counter as he waits and adjusts some code on his datapad.

"I try to eat here whenever I'm on planet. Her food is always good and the location is useful."

Cassian traces an alliance symbol in the condensation of his ale.

"It is, at that," Yamato says, relaxing just a little bit. "Close to everything that's going on, but hidden enough that nobody's going to accidentally stumble across it unless they're really lost."

Or specifically looking for it.

The table offers privacy and the space is one where no one listens too much to anyone else,

"Yes, a friend recommended it to me."

"They've clearly got an eye for good cafes," Yamato notes, wryly, as he starts to dig into his food.

"They do. They're good places to know how to find."

Cassian's spent a lot of time in places like this and noisier, dangerous ones.

"So, how do you think the convention's been going so far?"

Yamato means in terms of how useful it's been, but if Cassian wants to geek out over ships, that's fine too in his books.

"I'm pleased with what we've seen and hope to learn more. That sim was one of the nicest I've ever seen. Was it as nice to fly in?"

Here they can be a little more open but Cassian's careful to not say too much.

Yamato cracks a momentary grin, ducking his head just a little.

"It was. I had a lot of fun with that," he says. "Thank you for arranging that."

Cassian smiles into his meal,

"Good and we can look more into that race."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Are you thinking it'll be useful?" Yamato asks, cocking his head. He supposes it might be, if there's going to be a Hutt presence.

"It might be, everyone comes to the races."

Which makes them valuable places to learn all kinds of things.

[angry_friendship_wolf]

Wryly: "True enough. But it's a secret race, which probably means you can only watch it if you have an invitation. Something tells me this datachip doesn't include an invite."

He lifts a shoulder in a slight shrug. "And a secret race run by crime cartels? That's the kind of thing where they'll only let you join the audience if you pay a steep entry fee and put down some kind of bet," he adds. "And I don't know about you, but I definitely didn't bring that many credits."

"No but we can start by going to the legal race and some places that aren't completely in the light. That might open a few different doors."

There are ways to get into a race like without too many credits.

"Well, you know I'm not against watching the legal race, so that's fine by me," Yamato says, cracking a quick grin.

"And that will be exciting. I was also thinking of inviting some of our other friends to visit out here. The two who love gadgets and names and a fellow soldier. I think they'd appreciate it."

Cassian wants Yamato to be involved in the discussion of if others from Milliways join them.

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"They might enjoy that," Yamato agrees, with a quick laugh. "When were you thinking of bringing them?"

"Not immediately, need to find the best way for them to travel and when."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"I'll leave that one with you, then. Keep me in the loop."

With that out of the way, he thinks for a moment, drumming his fingers on the table.

"When's the legal race, anyhow?"

Yamato suspects there'll be too many stormtroopers and Imperial officers there to make it a viable place to bring any guests, but if they're going to be using that to scope out ways to get into where the illegal race is being held, then he'd like to know when they'll be doing that.

"Three days, its set in the middle of the convention to show off the ships.

"A ways off, then," Yamato notes. "Do we have anything scheduled before then?"

"A few conversations and exhibits, what you picked up today will help us figure out how best to use our time."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

Yamato smiles a little, pulling the datachip out of his pocket and sliding it over the table.

"Well, I don't have any equipment to read this with, so here."

Cassian takes the datachip and it disappears up his jacket sleeve, "Need to find another place for this."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"I figured as much. Our hotel room won't do either," Yamato says quietly, tilting his head. "There were surveillance robots milling around there. Wouldn't want any of them to find out something they shouldn't."

Yamato's pretty sure he can use his wrist computer to disrupt any surveillance in the area, but there's a time and a place for that, and 'in our hotel room, thus raising questions about why surveillance went on the fritz right around where these two guests were' is neither.

"We might do better in the crowd on the floor or in an alley. We have some options where we're not the focus or there isn't any surveillance."

Not easy to find on this planet but its possible.
