Convention with Gabe

Cassian's waiting at the counter for Gabe, today should be a good day for him to see the convention. And Gabe's eye for weapons will be useful for looking into the shadier deals that are happening and where Yamato's cover will stand out a little too much.

"Yes, as much time as he's been able to. The race wasn't planned."

Yamato's been training as a pilot so this wasn't out of nowhere. This just heightened everything.

That's...well, he supposes that will have to do. It's a little late to back out now.

"He'll likely upset a few bookies, then," Gabe says, sounding confident.

"He has and he's a natural pilot." Cassian trusts that Yamato can do it.

"When are the races supposed to start?" He likes to try and keep a timetable in his head. "And which one is Master Ilo in?"

"Only one race and its in a few days time."

[sticktothemission]

"How many pilots, then?"

If it's the big capstone event he expects quite a few. Steep competition for Yamato, then.

"Sixteen or so, the number's not set yet as there are always changes. You hungry? There's a place that does good mynock wings down this aisle."

Cassian wants Gabe to be able to enjoy all the different parts of visiting his galaxy.

"I've never had mynock wings. Let's go."

No self respecting nerd would ever turn down that offer.

"Over this way." There's a food court set up with all sorts of food selections and Cassian heads to a place advertising mynock wings.

The food court is fascinating all by itself. Fried things, iced things, meat things, squirming things, Gabriel does a damned good job of not gaping as he follows Cassian to the mynock booth.

"I completely defer to you for ordering."

Cassian grins at that and orders two baskets of mynock wings and two cold fizzy drinks. Then he hands over one basket to Gabe before going to find a seat at a table, "This is their best sauce, spicy but still with flavor."

Gabe sits, arranging his basket and drink in front of him. He picks up a wing and sniffs at the sauce, getting a hint of the flavor before taking a bite.

"Mm." It's weird, not all that different from biting into a chicken wing but just different enough that you'd never mistake the two. The flavor of it is mostly from the sauce and it is a good sauce with a nice level of heat. "That's tasty."

Around his own eating, Cassian nods as they're on of his favorites. "Anything else you want to try?"

"I am up for anything and everything," Gabriel says honestly. He doesn't expect to have a chance like this often. "What's the default touristy thing? And what do you always get, the local favorite?"

Cassian heads over to a booth with various bread things,

"Over here is what I always get when I'm here. It reminds me of something they made where I'm from. A sweet and soft bread."

"Like conchas?" He looks over the offerings with interest to see if anything looks familiar.

"Yes, the spices aren't exactly the same. You'll see." The shapes are different, they more resemble the hills outside.

They certainly look interesting. Gabriel is eager to try one and he lets that show in his face.

"So what are the varieties?" Are there varieties? Toppings?

Cassian starts running through the varieties highlighting a few that are more unusual, "I always like trying to get something a little spicy along with the sweet."

"I'm game to try anything once."

He is definitely making a mental note about Cassian's fondness for heat.

Cassian smiles and orders them both what he normally gets and hands one over to Gabe, "Here you go."

Gabriel accepts it with thanks and takes a moderately sized bite. The sweetness and the soft texture are the first noticeable things, and then rolling up under it a gentle spicy heat that makes his mouth tingle. He recognizes flavors in broad sort of sense but none of it is really familiar.

"I've never had anything quite like this. Good, though." And he takes a second bite.

As Cassian's eating his own, he nods around his eating. Once he's finished his bite, "I always get them when I can. And the juices over there are a good balance."

He follows Cassian over to the next stall, enjoying being shown around.

"What are they called again?"

He wants to ask Bar for this desert later.

"Loop pastry and oh good, they have Muja fruit juice."

They have other varieties like horned melons or others.
