On base with Kay

Cassian wants to be going on a mission again but that means getting all the pieces together.

As he's finding sleep hard to come by, he takes his datapad and goes to rest on Kay where he's recharging.

Soon he has projections of possible routes and options for a sabotage up and the plan's looking like something he can take to Draven and command for approval.

"Which it probably won't," he replies with some semblance or resignation.

"I should have a blaster, for if things do go awry."

"You don't need a blaster and security droids don't usually carry them,"

It would be odder if Kay had one.

[rebel_droid]

It was a worthy attempt, not the first one Kay's made, nor the last, but he lets it drop for now.

"When are we going to go?"

[childofrebellion]

"As soon as we get approval and a ship, but that will have to wait until everyone else is up,"

He leans back against Kay, a few more hours and the base will be awake.

[rebel_droid]

"You should rest," he says, returning to his original position now that he is satisfied with their plan.

"It will be easier for you to gain their approval if you do not appear wornout and underslept."

"I do try to sleep,"

Cassian says as he sets his datapad down and tries to find a comfortable spot on Kay. They've gone through this before, sleep is tricky.

"I did not say try, I said you should." Because there is a difference.

It's a banter debate they've had before, and Kay only wishes he could do more to help Cassian rest as rest is good for him.

Kay does remains still so that Cassian can settle in, hoping that will do some good.

"I know you did, be nice if I had an off switch and could just recharge,"

He closes his eyes and finds a spot he's slightly worn down on Kay as its almost cozy.

[rebel_droid]

"Yes. I imagine you must be very envious of mine."

[childofrebellion]

"I am sometimes but I like not having a kill switch. And I'm better at blending in," There are many ways to kill him but not one switch.

"Move to the right slightly," He's almost in the perfect place to sleep. An astromech rolls by and beeps at them.

[rebel_droid]

"I am better at not getting hurt on missions," he counters.

He moves for Cassian, adjusting position in the hopes of helping him get comfortable and rest.

"Go find your ship," he tells the astromech, waving one arm to shoo it away.

"Only sometimes and I heal up fine,"

Yes, he has scars but everyone does, even Kay needs repairs. Finally he gets to the right position and starts to fall asleep.

Kay goes quiet, sensing Cassian beginning to relax.

"I still have those statistics about things going wrong if you would like to hear them."

Cassian chuckles to himself, but doesn't open his eyes,

"Please tell me, I'll think about them as I sleep."

[rebel_droid]

Kay is happy to oblige, and won't even mind if his figures are what put Cassian to sleep.

[childofrebellion]

The figures work well and Cassian sleeps. When he's awake, Draven approves of the mission and soon, they need to get the ship read.

Cassian's going through a list in his head and sometimes out loud, "Kay, where did you put those detonators?"

[rebel_droid]

"I put them in the proper receptacle as denoted by label," Kay replies. "You put them over there."

He points at an entirely different receptacle in the completely wrong place.

[childofrebellion]

"Oh, but didn't this used to live over here?"

There was a reason he put them over here, but for now he sighs and shifts them to the labeled container.

"That's everything on my list."

[rebel_droid]

"Yes, but I determined it was inefficient and moved it." Without telling Cassian, of course.

"Good, I shall plot course and begin my calculations."

[childofrebellion]

"Tell me when you move something next time,"

Once he's set, he closes the door and sits next to Kay to work on the route.

[rebel_droid]

Such an unreasonable request, but, as Cassian wishes.

"Cassian, I am moving me feet now," he announces as he starts to walk.

A few moments later from the front of the ship another announcement comes. "Cassian, I am moving my seat now."

When Cassian joins him up front Kay looks over and informs him, "Cassian, I am moving my arms and hands now to input the coordinates."

"Kay, I meant when you move where something is in the ship," He did deserve that for not being specific enough and sighs and smiles as he goes over the route, "We should avoid that station. More troops are headed there."

[rebel_droid]

"But I am in the ship," he informs Cassian, matter-of-fact. Whether he's being serious or flippant only Kay knows, but he does stop announcing all of his actions.

"Avoiding the station would add a two-percent increase in our travel duration," he informs Cassian, waiting to make sure that is acceptable before altering their course.

[childofrebellion]

"That's acceptable as I saw the name of the officer headed there. He's one who keeps a close eye on everything,"

Too risky to get near him as there's a greater chance of something going wrong.

[rebel_droid]

"Very well, I shall set our course." Something that doesn't take him long at all to do.
