On base with Kay

Cassian wants to be going on a mission again but that means getting all the pieces together.

As he's finding sleep hard to come by, he takes his datapad and goes to rest on Kay where he's recharging.

Soon he has projections of possible routes and options for a sabotage up and the plan's looking like something he can take to Draven and command for approval.

"But you just said jobs work better with me," he argues.

[childofrebellion]

"They do, most of the time, but this is two jobs. The sabotage will because no one looks at me when you're behind me. But with informants, its different, they would remember you too much. You can be nearby keeping watch in case anything goes wrong."

[rebel_droid]

That mollifies him a little.

"I will keep watch, because things often go wrong." Especially when Kay is not involved.

"Not often just sometimes,"

Someone has to go out there and get it and he can.

[rebel_droid]

"Would you like me to provide you with the statistics on things going wrong?" he asks, perfectly willing to supply Cassian with said data.

[childofrebellion]

"No, I don't need it and even if it does go wrong, we get out of it,"

They're a good team and he'd rather be facing the risks than anything else.

[rebel_droid]

"Yes, we," he says in agreement, deciding that he'll be emphasizing all the 'we's' from now on to make the point to Cassian.

Cassian rubs his face, he's not awake enough to get into this and pulls up the plan,

"Do you see any ways to improve the plan?"

[rebel_droid]

Kay scans over the plan again, lifting a hand to point and indicate one of Cassian's targets.

"If you move this charge over here it will increase damage to structural supports by seventeen percent."

[childofrebellion]

"The damage won't catch us?"

With the right timing it shouldn't but he hadn't put one there due to worrying about that.

[rebel_droid]

"We will be fine," Kay replies. "Utilizing this hallway and exit here, rather than this one you've indicated."

He points out the alternate route on the floor plan.

[childofrebellion]

"We'll have to time it just right, the patrols pass by that exit,"

That will make it simpler, but they're still a factor.

[rebel_droid]

"I should think the explosions will be sufficient distraction," he points out.

[childofrebellion]

"Yes, if it all goes as it should,"

He's trying to cover everything so Kay won't spot any holes.

[rebel_droid]

"Which it probably won't," he replies with some semblance or resignation.

"I should have a blaster, for if things do go awry."

[childofrebellion]

"You don't need a blaster and security droids don't usually carry them,"

It would be odder if Kay had one.

[rebel_droid]

It was a worthy attempt, not the first one Kay's made, nor the last, but he lets it drop for now.

"When are we going to go?"

[childofrebellion]

"As soon as we get approval and a ship, but that will have to wait until everyone else is up,"

He leans back against Kay, a few more hours and the base will be awake.

[rebel_droid]

"You should rest," he says, returning to his original position now that he is satisfied with their plan.

"It will be easier for you to gain their approval if you do not appear wornout and underslept."

[childofrebellion]

"I do try to sleep,"

Cassian says as he sets his datapad down and tries to find a comfortable spot on Kay. They've gone through this before, sleep is tricky.

"I did not say try, I said you should." Because there is a difference.

It's a banter debate they've had before, and Kay only wishes he could do more to help Cassian rest as rest is good for him.

Kay does remains still so that Cassian can settle in, hoping that will do some good.

"I know you did, be nice if I had an off switch and could just recharge,"

He closes his eyes and finds a spot he's slightly worn down on Kay as its almost cozy.

[rebel_droid]

"Yes. I imagine you must be very envious of mine."

[childofrebellion]

"I am sometimes but I like not having a kill switch. And I'm better at blending in," There are many ways to kill him but not one switch.

"Move to the right slightly," He's almost in the perfect place to sleep. An astromech rolls by and beeps at them.

[rebel_droid]

"I am better at not getting hurt on missions," he counters.

He moves for Cassian, adjusting position in the hopes of helping him get comfortable and rest.

"Go find your ship," he tells the astromech, waving one arm to shoo it away.
