On base with Kay

Cassian wants to be going on a mission again but that means getting all the pieces together.

As he's finding sleep hard to come by, he takes his datapad and goes to rest on Kay where he's recharging.

Soon he has projections of possible routes and options for a sabotage up and the plan's looking like something he can take to Draven and command for approval.

"But I am in the ship," he informs Cassian, matter-of-fact. Whether he's being serious or flippant only Kay knows, but he does stop announcing all of his actions.

"Avoiding the station would add a two-percent increase in our travel duration," he informs Cassian, waiting to make sure that is acceptable before altering their course.

"That's acceptable as I saw the name of the officer headed there. He's one who keeps a close eye on everything,"

Too risky to get near him as there's a greater chance of something going wrong.

"Very well, I shall set our course." Something that doesn't take him long at all to do.

Cassian nods when he sees it and gets on his headphones to let the base know they're leaving, "Then let's get going."

Given the word, Kay takes off; leaving the base and then the world behind.

While they're in hyperspace, Cassian gets up to prepare his bag for the sabotage.

At this point, double checking, eating a ration bar and going over all the possible problems on his datapad, "We'll have to be quick. I don't like how short the shift changes are."

"There is indeed a very narrow time window for this mission," Kay replies. "Otherwise the probability of you not dying is almost zero."

He nods and makes a face at the horrible ration bar, "So just like most of our missions. I don't think there's another way to manage it."

"Precisely," Kay agrees with a nod. Pretty much new dangers, different day.

Cassian watches the stars and looks over the ship manifests to check on the timing of the second mission. Whenever he meets this informant, he makes it seem like chance which means a spaceport,

"After, we'll be heading towards a good sized hub. That way if there are problems, we can easily hide in there."

"That is good. I would like it much better if you hid more often."

Cassian would get hurt a lot less that way.

"I'm always hiding just sometimes the best way to hide is to be in a crowd or under their noses,"

Blending in is what he does, he's usually doing it in places where something is going on.

[rebel_droid]

"There is a distinct difference between actively hiding and concealing one's identity," Kay informs Cassian.

"I would prefer if you physically hid from sight, possibly by jumping in a box and closing the lid. Blending into a crowd still leaves you with the opportunity to be stabbed. Or robbed. Or trampled to death should that crowd become hysterical and unruly."

"No one's tried to rob me since I think I was a boy. Being in a box wouldn't help, because I wouldn't be able to know when its safe or how to change the situation to be safer,"

And he hates not being able to know what's going on.

Cassian considers this problem, then provides the optimal solution.

"We could put holes in the box, so that you can see."

Kay considers this problem, then provides the optimal solution.

"We could put holes in the box, so that you can see."

"No, I'm not going to be in a box, it would draw attention. Also boxes need information of what's in them because 'troopers always check them,"

And that would only create more trouble.

[rebel_droid]

"I see."

Kay goes silent, checking monitors, looking out at the stars.

Then...

"What if you hid in a plant? Or behind one?"

"A plant? How often do you seen plants where we work? I think I'll keep hiding how I normally do but if you spot any good cover that I've missed, show me,"

Droids are more common than plants.

Cassian makes a valid point, Kay finds the solution.

"You should work where there is more plants."

Regardless, Kay will keep an eye out for any good cover.

"Do you know where that might be?"

Ways to be safer are always good but he also knows there aren't that many changes they can make. Maybe if he didn't do the same job in the Rebellion but that's not an option. He checks their course, it shouldn't be too long before they get to their destination.

"I do not," he informs Cassian almost cheerfully.

Cassian smiles at Kay before getting up to switch out his jacket from his captain's to his black jacket as its less identifiable,

"The landing pad we're heading to isn't that far from the factory, but that walk we'll have to blend in."

[rebel_droid]

"I shall make sure to find us a landing site that is easy to get to for after."

Best to be prepared when they anticipate leaving in a hurry.

"No, you're coming with me. Remember your presence will make me less noticeable when we're close to the factory. The landing pad should work as the detonators are on a time delay."
