On base with Kay

Cassian wants to be going on a mission again but that means getting all the pieces together.

As he's finding sleep hard to come by, he takes his datapad and goes to rest on Kay where he's recharging.

Soon he has projections of possible routes and options for a sabotage up and the plan's looking like something he can take to Draven and command for approval.

Kay considers this problem, then provides the optimal solution.

"We could put holes in the box, so that you can see."

[childofrebellion]

"No, I'm not going to be in a box, it would draw attention. Also boxes need information of what's in them because 'troopers always check them,"

And that would only create more trouble.

[rebel_droid]

"I see."

Kay goes silent, checking monitors, looking out at the stars.

Then...

"What if you hid in a plant? Or behind one?"

"A plant? How often do you seen plants where we work? I think I'll keep hiding how I normally do but if you spot any good cover that I've missed, show me,"

Droids are more common than plants.

[rebel_droid]

Cassian makes a valid point, Kay finds the solution.

"You should work where there is more plants."

Regardless, Kay will keep an eye out for any good cover.

"Do you know where that might be?"

Ways to be safer are always good but he also knows there aren't that many changes they can make. Maybe if he didn't do the same job in the Rebellion but that's not an option. He checks their course, it shouldn't be too long before they get to their destination.

"I do not," he informs Cassian almost cheerfully.

Cassian smiles at Kay before getting up to switch out his jacket from his captain's to his black jacket as its less identifiable,

"The landing pad we're heading to isn't that far from the factory, but that walk we'll have to blend in."

[rebel_droid]

"I shall make sure to find us a landing site that is easy to get to for after."

Best to be prepared when they anticipate leaving in a hurry.

[childofrebellion]

"No, you're coming with me. Remember your presence will make me less noticeable when we're close to the factory. The landing pad should work as the detonators are on a time delay."

[rebel_droid]

"I remember," he affirms. "Will I get to meet your contact as well?"

[childofrebellion]

"No, you would make her suspicious but you might be able to keep watch outside the cantina. It depends how many Imps are around."

[rebel_droid]

"How is that? I could just tell her that I am a reprogrammed Imperial droid." That should easily allay any suspicions.

[childofrebellion]

"She works in Imperial records, telling her that will make her wonder too much,"

One reason she's a good connection is she asks thoughtful questions, Cassian doesn't want her questioning him too much.

Kay cannot pout, he lacks the facial mechanics for it, but he gives a rather good impression of one; his shoulders falling and his usual slouch becoming even more defined.

"I shall stay outside."

Cassian reaches over to pat Kay's arm as they near the spaceport, "Thank you."

Now to get them in without any suspicion.

Kay follows Cassian's lead, walking behind the man like any other droid with a scan out for any trouble.

They're on the edge of the spaceport near other ships that have seen hard use, a few 'troopers are around but not paying a lot of attention. When they move into the street, space opens around Kay as Cassian blends into the crowd taking the most direct route to the factory.

Kay keeps up his role of escort for most of the way until he spots a cantina.

"Is that the cantina?"

[childofrebellion]

"No, I'll be meeting her at our next destination," Its a short hop away and a larger spaceport. Her travel route happened to put her not too far from here so it all should work.

As they get nearer the factory, Cassian keeps his head down, using his hair to hide him from any surveillance and holding a small disruptor if he can't avoid one.

Kay looms, using some of his bulk to shield Cassian, as well.

They reach the side door of the factory without any trouble and Cassian moves behind Kay as he uses a lockpick on the door. T

hen slowly opens the door and gestures to Kay to come closer so they can go in together.

Standing guard while Cassian works, Kay then follows the man in.

"Starting mission counter now. I shall let you know when we are running past time to the point where we fail and you will probably die," he informs Cassian.

"Thank you, Kay,"

As soon as he's in, Cassian moves through the halls to the back of the factory floor and starts setting the bombs. A cleaning droid trundles by them before continuing its rounds. Once they're all placed, Cassian checks that he hasn't missed anywhere and turns to leave.

Kay stands by on guard, shooing off the cleaning droid when he decides it's lingering too long.

When Cassian is finished Kay gives a nod. "We are two point one five minutes ahead of schedule."
