Adventures with Kay and Sombra Part II

The U-wing bumps down and Cassian mutters in Festian as they stop, "Easy, easy, almost there."

Once they're set, he stands up with a nod and looks at Kay and Sombra while checking his holster and supplies, "How are we looking, Kay?"

Kay checks over the readings on his scanners.

"I see no patrols in the area."

"Perhaps it is best, regardless, if there are not three of us to be seen."

She's got both the blaster Cassian gave her and her machine pistol on her, though only the blaster is currently in her hand.

"Good, I'll knock out the surveillance. Kay, find out where the supplies we need are. Sombra, if you'll find our best intel point,"

He opens the ship door, while holding a round disruptor, does a scan of the area and walks into the darkly lit hangar. There's a bzzt sound as he finds something to knock out then gestures forward.

"I have located the supplies," Kay announces, coming up behind Cassian.

Sombra looks up from the tiny holographic screen she opened mid-air, slipping out of her seat and out of the ship. She doesn't make much noise at all, even though she is currently visible.

"This way," she mumurs very softly, as she passes both Cassian and Kay. "The most concentrated cluster of computing networks is where I think we should be headed."

He nods and looks up to Kay, he needs to decide if its better to split up or go together. The more efficient the better as this is one of those places with odd shadows from lights that aren't all working, "And the supplies?"

"In a storage wing, that way," he points, indicating a turn that would take them away from Sombra's direction.

"I can go on my own," Sombra says, cocksure and somber at the same time.

"For long enough for you to pick up the supplies, at least."

He nods, they can move faster separately , “Comm us if you need any help. Let’s find those supplies.”

"It is preferable you not die, Sombra," he says to the woman, paused a moment in place. "The probability of Cassian following suit is quite high."

That said, Kay turns to lead the way to the supplies.

Sombra beams at Kay.

"I shall certainly do my best!"

She tips off a quick salute at both him and Cassian, then flickers into invisibility and moves off down the corridor. Well, they can assume she's moving away, at least. She's not making much noise, either.

Once Cassian sees her flicker away, he starts towards the supplies, every once in a while shining a light and listening for anything unexpected.

The base is remarkably quiet, he doesn't trust that and soon there's the sound of TIE fighters going by. He presses himself against a wall and hopes they don't use deep scanners.

Kay tries to track her and is grudgingly impressed again when he can't.

He walks with Cassian, following the route to the supplies. When the TIE fighter screams by overhead Kay moves with Cassian, putting his back to the wall beside him.

"Maybe it is only a light patrol."

Sombra does not hum to herself as she picks her way down the hallways, ducking into alcoves and investigating several pieces of equipment and some interesting ductwork.

(The ductwork is where she leaves a translocator. Just in case.)

Now, as long as there is no one currently in the computing cluster just ahead and to the right --







Could that droid standing there possibly be Kay? It seems . . . unlikely.

Hmm.

The fighters continue onto their patrol though a search light is briefly shone towards the base. Once its gone, Cassian starts moving again, "Yes, following their routine."

No, this droid isn't Kay, a similar model as its also a security droid.

Kay steps away from the wall, scanning the area then continuing on.

"Will Sombra be coming on all of our missions from now on?" he asks.

Elsewhere, Sombra does not hear this question asked. She is currently facing a problem, which is a very large black droid in a place that she would rather not see a large, black droid.

She could get hurt!

There is a quick way to deal with this, a slow way to deal with this, and at least two ways in-between.

Sombra chooses the quick way, leaping out from hiding so the droid gets the full effect of her EMP blast.

¡Apagando las luces!, indeed.

Now to permanently disable them in the next three minutes, while they're down.

In theory, there's a kill switch but they keep being moved.

Cassian spots where the supplies are and quickens his pace to look at what's the biggest priority, "No, she won't be."

"Good. I like when it is just us." Even if Sombra's presence today helps change some of the probabilities of this mission ending well.

Sombra likes it when it is just Sombra, as well. It means she has to pay less attention to keeping her true skills under wraps.

Off switch, off switch -- ah, the correct subroutines that lead her to the actual physical device. Sombra disables it, then removes the droid's power sources and tucks them away into her coat. Maybe Kay can use them!

Now, on to the data centers. Hmmmm.

"I do too. Here we go, fuel, medical and even some rations,"

He gives Kay a pat before he starts to load up a float pallet.

Then hits the commlink, "Sombra, what's your status?"

Kay steps up to help load, rearranging some of the items Cassian puts down so they are stacked more efficiently.

He turns his head towards Cassian for a moment when he calls Sombra, then gets back to loading.

"In the largest data nexus," Sombra says casually, popping open holographic windows and looking for the correct data access ports.

"Give me five minutes."

"You have it. It will take us a little longer to get this all loaded onto the ship," Then Cassian cuts the comm and looks to Kay, "How much more can we get?"

"By my calculations, another pallet's worth before the weight begins to affect our take-off and fuel consumption," Kay responds.
