Preparation and Raid

Cassian pats the shuttle as he gets off, nodding to the pilot before stepping off and starting towards Ops and Draven.

If he reports first then he can find Kay and get some rest perhaps even see if whoever's cooking needs help. As he walks back, he notes the extra movement and wonders which of the possible raids is going ahead.

He gets a few nods but not that many, he's not around that much and tends to keep to himself, its safer in the long run.

Kay doesn't agree, but he's mollified at least knowing he'll be there this time.

"It seems a rather straightforward plan," he notes, handing the plans back to Cassian.

"It does. I don't need to change too much of what I'm bringing,"

He finishes the last few bites and considers his pack before changing out a few things in it. Then yawns as he stands up, "That should be everything, I'll try and nap in the transport."

Satisfied when Cassian finishes his food, Kay falls in ready to follow.

Cassian stands up and grabs his tray and pack, "Let's go."

Outside the bustle of the base is quieter and a pilot waves to them from another transport.

Kay lifts his arm to hail the pilot back, not much caring if the gesture was meant for him or not.

The transport dips as Kay steps onto it, and he looks for a place near Cassian to occupy.

There are two seats near the back and Cassian sets down as the pilot starts getting ready to leave. Once they’ve lifted off, Cassian closes his eyes and leans on Kay to get some more rest.

Kay settles in to be a rest for Cassian, as always ready to shoo away anyone until they've landed.

It’s a few hours before they reach the spaceport on an old mining station. Cassian wakes up about half an hour before they land and reviews the mission before preparing his blaster.

Kay handles Cassian pack and follows the man off of the transport.

"What a dirty place," he notes with distaste.

As they get off, Cassian considers that before saying while they move off into a higher postion, “Easier to blend in.”

"I feel like that is a comment on us more than the places we visit," Kay notes.

A beat, and then he adds, "Because we never visit anywhere nice."

In case that part wasn't clear.

“We don’t do nice work,” Its needed and important but not nice. Cassian finds a good spot to set up his sniper blaster and cover the rest of the raid.

For once Kay doesn't make comment.

While Cassian gets ready, Kay takes up a position to watch over him that's out of the way and out of view of any targets that may enter Cassian's scope.

Its fairly quiet, they're watching a series of entrances to warehouses where there are materials that the Empire is using various companies to shift.

Cassian adjusts his position as the comms are quiet other than the rest of the team getting into position. It all seems to be going according to plan.

"It seems to be going well," Kay notes from behind Cassian.

"That probably means things are about to go wrong."

"True and they can go wrong in a few different ways. Tell me all our odds,"

That way he can start running through more plans.

[rebel_droid]

Kay though Cassian would never ask, and was about to start supplying the odds without a request.

Since Cassian did ask, though, Kay goes through it.

Overall they stand a greater than average chance of not dying, but still the possibility, as ever, still remains.

Something explodes and the comms crackle, "Prisoners' released. Coming out hot."

One of the warehouses shakes and from the door in front of them a mixture of bodies pour our, far too many children; Wookies, Bothans and at least one Twi'lek.

Cassian says while waiting for who's helping or hurting the children to appear, "Prisoners in view. Covering the exits."

"Troopers, coming in from the right," Kay says, scanning the goings on and spotting for Cassian.

Cassian starts firing quick shots to take down the troopers as the children stare up and try and hide next to a wall. So far no one's followed them out but an explosion rocks the door behind them.

"Kriff, they're on their own. We need to get down there," He says while the troopers start firing up as a few yell at the children.

Kay moves as soon as Cassian says they need to; ready to defend or cover Cassian as they make their way to the children.

Cassian tosses a grenade at the troopers who are pulling back to a different part of the fight. At the blast, all the children hug the street and a Wookie watches the roof.

On their way up, Cassian noted an old scaffold and heads to it and down. Blaster bolts are still in the air, one almost hits Cassian's leg.

Kay notices that near miss, and he doesn't like it.

The scaffolding is old, and once Cassian is clear of one of the landings Kay takes a moment to rip a hunk of it off, then throws it down at the firing Troopers.

Most of the troopers have scattered including one stubborn one that's focused on them. The scaffolding knocks a few down as some of the Wookie children let out a yell.

Cassian hits the ground and stands between the children and troopers, answering back blaster shots. There's the crackle of comms, theirs and the troopers, "We need to get someplace safer."

The children stare at them and a Bothan gives Kay a thoughtful look.

Kay looks at Cassian, then down at the children.

He does a quick calculation of the best course. The rendezvous point isn't far, and so he spreads his arms out wide to gesture the children to move.

"Alright, little ones, this way." Putting his back to Cassian and the firing, he herds the children along, using his bulk to shield them as best he can.
