Convention with Gabe

Cassian's waiting at the counter for Gabe, today should be a good day for him to see the convention. And Gabe's eye for weapons will be useful for looking into the shadier deals that are happening and where Yamato's cover will stand out a little too much.

Cassian's dressed in his Willix cover of a neat blue suit.

Gabriel casts an eye over the craft; they're clearly not being subtle about their wares.

"Potentially," he allows. "Depending on their capabilities."

These don't exactly fall under 'discrete'.

"Fast with capabilities for weapons and shields. Everything you need when venturing into the edges."

A projection of a ship bristling with protections is pulled up to hover in front of Gabe.

That many armaments could be a good deterrent but could also draw a lot of attention. Still, it may be good to find out exactly what sort of weapons it carries before dismissing it from Master Ilo's list.

He feigns moderate interest. "Do you have an options list? Package deals?"

"Of course, of course, we can make all the adjustments that you would like,"

Now the projection has an overlay of various options including deals.

His eyes scan the images, picking out what he can. Gabriel isn't what he would call fluent in this language.

He makes a thoughtful sound, leaning slightly towards Cassian. "I'm uncertain anything here would suit your Master's tastes, Willix," he says doubtfully. Addressing the salesperson again, "Powerful capabilities is one thing, but discreetness is another. Perhaps I've missed it in your list, but do you have anything that fulfills both?"

"Master Ilo prefers his ships to be elegant and discrete. I don't think any of these would suit him."

Cassian agrees with a serious nod as the salesperson looks worried because discrete isn't what their ships are known for.

"That's what I was afraid of."

He glances over the projection again, giving the salesperson one more chance to rebound. He does put on a regretful look, however. Personally he likes some of these designs.

"We could take a catalog. Perhaps your own ship might need some adjustments, sir."

Cassian says as the salesperson hands over a datachip with a grateful smile.

"True," Gabriel allows, offering a slight smile of his own as the chip is passed over.

He shifts his stance to something a little more guarded and drops his volume when he next speaks. "Actually I would be interested in upgrading my own weapons. Their power has been lacking as of late and I dislike drawn out conflicts. Do you have anything or know anyone that would give me an edge?"

"What sort of weapon do you prefer?" The salesperson says carefully, "We have options and I can send you to those who specialize in modifying personal weapons."

"Something..." Gabriel pauses and appears to consider his next words carefully. "Potent. Unexpected." He raises one eyebrow. "Not available to civilians."

Cassian fades back to see what answer the salesperson gives.

They look around and then invite Gabe towards the back of the booth where they open a cabinet of specialized weapons, "None of these are for sale to the public."

Gabriel allows himself to look keenly interested as he follows the salesperson over, going so far as to let out a low hum of appreciation when the cabinet opens.

"And these can be outfitted for personal craft? Or only personnel? I'm interested either way, but I am interested in both."

"It depends on the weapon. This one's only meant for ships as is this one. They're too large to be used by one person while these could be with modifications."

At least two weapons almost fill the case with their size.

"Plasma based?" He knows projectiles aren't common here and tries to think of the equivalent to penetration. He starts to put a little longing on his face, trying to show he's interested but still having to hold back for some reason. "What are they rated for?"

The salesperson pats one rocket, "This is our best plasma torpedo, it will take down any shield as easily as cracking an egg. One of our most popular weapons for our ships. If you want something more handheld, I recommend our plasma wave blaster."

As the salesperson talks, Cassian makes careful notes about what's being sold.

He looks intrigued and starts to reach out to touch the blaster, then stops glancing up at the salesperson for permission.

"Does the wave configuration interfere with accuracy at all?"

"Its not our most accurate weapon, that would be a rifle but it can take down up to three targets at once."

The salesperson nods because of course he can handle it.

Gabriel knows his way around a weapon and he picks it up with practiced ease, careful to keep it pointed safely. It feels light but most things do these days.

"In a line or abreast? And what does it do to droids?"

The last is asked with keen interest as he allows his significant bias towards machines to show through.

"In a line, it will take them down as long as their armor isn't too heavy."

The droid comment is telling and the salesperson looks over their weapons once more.

Gabriel allows a grin to crack his features. That is legitimately hella tempting and the longing look on his face increases slightly. Reluctantly he puts the weapon back down and places a hand on the rocket. He doesn't try to lift it, though, he has no idea how heavy it's supposed to be.

"And this you said cracks any shield but does it do damage beyond that or do I need a secondary weapons system? What do you recommend?"

Before the salesperson can answer, the partitions of the booth are moved apart and there's the distinctive clunk of boots.

Cassian concentrates intensely on his datapad to hide his face as an Imperial officer enters, "I had an appointment."

Gabriel looks annoyed at the rudeness before he turns to see who's interrupting.

Oh.

His face instantly goes neutral respectful, hiding his wariness. He offers a controlled, polite smile to the salesperson, taking note of their reaction to this. "Another time, perhaps," he says with a hint of regret, stepping back from the case.

As Gabe gets ready to leave, Cassian stands up to shadow him, when the salesperson offers a small package to him, "A small gift and I hope that you might come back at some point."

The officer scoffs at the salesperson though Cassian gives them a small smile before moving out of the booth.

Gabriel accepts the package with a nod and tucks it under his arm. "My thanks." He'll open it later, right now he feels like it's an excellent time to leave.

He gives the Imperial officer a wide berth while trying not to seem too skittish. Or at least not any more skittish than a civilian who was just perusing illegal weapons should be.
