The hangar's not too far from the main exhibit hall, a walk through busy streets to an imposing building. Inside they walk by many of the real ships that only had models in the exhibit hall and towards a section that's near one of the corner. The ship is gleaming and shining where it waits.

"Right, right, reflexes. I've mostly been piloting with my eyes shut, just hitting the accelerator, getting up to max speed, and hoping that I don't run into anything. That should work out just fine for the race, right?" He deadpans.
He's joking -- he definitely hasn't done that in any of the practice runs, and even the thought of it makes him want to cringe -- but he does a pretty good impression of grave seriousness, because what is life if not an exercise in trolling Barry.

Date: 2019-07-15 05:16 pm (UTC)Yamato isn't insane, so obviously he's going to be careful out there, but Barry feels that same cringe at the idea of flying blind and has to say something about it.

Date: 2019-07-15 06:02 pm (UTC)"Maybe hold off on the demolition derby mods, okay?" He murmurs to Cisco, before heading all the way down the ladder, turning his attention back to Barry and Cassian. "I'll be fine. I've had a good teacher."
He gives a nod over at Cassian at that last.

Date: 2019-07-17 02:46 am (UTC)There is totally no maniacal cackling involved as he works.

Date: 2019-07-17 06:05 am (UTC)That cackling is ... unnerving. But it's probably fine, right? Probably. Totally probably maybe fine.

Date: 2019-07-18 03:56 am (UTC)The cursing and surprised exclamations that follow are a sign of progress.
Eventually Cisco emerges again and grins at Yamato on the ladder.
"Dude, you are going to have a sick time flying this thing."

Date: 2019-07-18 03:56 am (UTC)He nods to Cassian, again not going to ask what the mission was.
"That's cool. And how long does this show last?"

Date: 2019-07-18 04:23 am (UTC)"You should've seen the practice runs. Part of the course involves flying straight down, and with gravity on its side and the momentum it'd built up in space, it went really fast," he says.

Date: 2019-07-18 04:36 pm (UTC)Cassian was proud of Yamato during that run.

Date: 2019-07-20 05:25 am (UTC)"I did some reroutes and bypass work to get you both more speed and fuel efficiency. I also tweaked the handling some so you should have more responsiveness."

Date: 2019-07-20 05:26 am (UTC)Flying straight down 'really fast' just doesn't sound... safe.
"What other challenges are there on the course?"
no subject
Date: 2019-07-20 05:37 am (UTC)Okay, this might be the awkward part. Trolling is fun and all, but Yamato doesn't actually want Barry to have a heart attack.
"There's an industrial area with obstacles, too, and a narrow system of caves, along with a few sections that are open and don't have any challenges. It's a three lap course, so I'll go through all the challenges three times," he says, then turns a little towards Cassian. "Did I get any of that wrong, or am I missing anything?"

Date: 2019-07-21 04:14 am (UTC)Putting on a smile, Barry nods, looking at the race course when Cassian puts up the holoprojection.
"Well that all sounds... exciting."

Date: 2019-07-21 04:21 am (UTC)Not that he's going to say that. Instead, he needs to say something reassuring, right? He's got this, it's fine, he can definitely do reassu -- ...
"Hey, if I die, you can have my stuff. Win-win, right?"
Nailed it.
