Library with Ibani

The door opens onto the library and Cassian stops for a moment to marvel at all the paper books, he's never seen so many before.

In his work he hasn't had reasons to go to libraries and gently reaches out to touch the shelves and see where they might need to go.

"Wow, I've never seen so many paper books," Ibani says, awe creeping into her tone. She also reaches out to the shelves, running her fingers carefully along the spines of some of the books.

He nods and when he speaks he ends up starting in Festian then correcting himself,

"We're allowed, I mean we're allowed to use them."

"I suppose we are," Ibani replies, grinning. "It will be nice to handle paper books that aren't bloodstained, for a change."

Her finger catches on the spine of a very thin book titled See Spot Run there is an illustration of a dog and a red ball on the cover. "Somehow, I don't think this is the section we need."

"You've had to retrieve books? No, maybe down that way,"

It looks like there are different areas of lighting and holovids have their own look.

"Some I retrieved, but most of the bloodstains were old, as opposed to new."

"I think that might be holovids down there."

"But they were precious enough books that the bloodstains didn't matter? Yes, I think so," As they walk, he stops to touch a few spines and pauses at ones in a language that could almost be Festian.

"I wonder if this is Spanish."

"One of a kind, most of them. Diaries, personal accounts, that sort of thing."

"No idea," Ibani replies. "I've never heard of Spanish. Is it an Earth language?"

"Yes and apparently its close enough to Festian than Spanish speakers can understand me when I speak it. I'll come back here. We should find the holovids,"

Now that they're farther back, its possible to see a section that looks like a library from their world.

"Interesting. I wonder why that is," she muses aloud.

"Ah, this looks familiar!"

She starts looking for, well, anything that looks like history. "No, this one is on speeder maintenance."

Cassian joins her and starts looking for histories and laughs, "There's a book on recipes for impressing your colleagues."

Ibani snickers. "How many of them involve high proof alcohol?"

"And one on cooking....I have no idea what that is in the image, I think it's a fruit of some kind?"

"Not a Jogen fruit or one I've seen before. Is that actually called 'The Smugglers' Cookbook? That one will have the most alcohol in it," Cassian flips through and pulls out a cover with an almost familiar helmet, "That looks like it might be right."

"It does!" Ibani agrees. "Arms and Armor, a Galactic History is what I'm seeing for a title."

"Let's see how far back and how far forward it goes. I'm going to see what else I can find," This seems like the right section and he mutters to himself, "No one needs this many geological studies of anywhere."

"That sounds good, I'll look through this and see what time periods it covers."

She chuckles in agreement with his muttering about geological studies.

Cassian smiles to himself as he finds a holovid that was passed around when he was a teen,

"I never thought I'd see this again." Then next to it smiles, "Oh this looks useful, a history of Mandalore the Ultimate. He really called himself that?"

Ibani laughs. "He really did. There was quite a nasty war between the Mandalorians and the Republic when he was in power."

"A holovid from your childhood?" She's curious.

"No, no, not childhood, little older. It has lots of dancers and tales of this princess from the Inner Core who falls in love with a pirate from the Outer Rim. They travel the galaxy and enjoy themselves,"

He brings both holovids over along with another on Mandalore and one about the losing of the Republic.

"Sound entertaining," Ibani replies, smiling. "I can't recall ever watching a holovid for fun, didn't have access to them until I found Milliways."

He passes it over to her, the title is in flowery script; Her Wayward Dream.

"I can recommend this one for being distracting, not the best writing but its fun. When I was younger, I did, now sometimes I'll glance through cookbooks. I think these might be useful for history. Do they look the right era?"

"I might need to watch it sometime, then," Ibani says. "Thanks."

"That one there definitely does, looks like it's from my time period," she says, pointing to the one on the left. It's faintly depressing how many times people in that style of armor have tried to kill her.

"Then we'll start with it," He sits down, the chairs are comfortable and starting flipping through before muttering to himself in Festian, "A test?"

Ibani sprawls in a chair next to Cassian. Well, looks like the armor of the Sith Empire comes first!

"Sorry, I didn't catch that." she says in response to Cassian's muttered Festian.

"This attack on Mandalore was all a test. Did they really do that?"

It makes him wonder about some battles that the Empire has fought and their real purposes.

"Yes they did," Ibani replies. "It would fit with the Sith Empire I know, and Imperial Intelligence in particular."

She smiles bitterly. "Test the enemy's strength with someone else's blood, get an idea of how they fight, what resources they have available."
