Adventures with Kay and Sombra

Cassian rested his hand on his pistol blaster in his bag as he walked towards the ship. It would be good to get off this spaceport as there were more refugees and smugglers, a dangerous combination. A delicious smell surprised him and Cassian stopped to near the doorway as a voice called out, "Everyone must eat. Do you want to spend your time hungry in hyperspace?"

There wasn't much in the ship and it would be good to prepare before the next mission which had tight timing. He opened the door to find Milliways, another good option.

"Mmm. I am not the best one to judge. It is messy for my tastes, but that is why I occupy the space I do, in my work."

Is that convoluted enough? One can hope!

Over a bite of tamale, Cassian gives her a thoughtful look as that was incredibly opaque,

"And that's as the one who gets everywhere?"

"No, no, that is someone else entirely. I'm the one that knows everything."

She is also the one that gets everywhere, but that is in more of an unofficial capacity. Personal projects, you know.

"You mean there's someone even better than you at getting into places?"

He has a measure of awe and surprise in his voice as she's very good. With her invisibility, that seems hard to believe but there's a lot he doesn't know about her world.

"He is a cloud of nanites. It helps."

Sombra sniffs.

[childofrebellion]

"Nanites like nano-droids? That would provide many options."

[messwiththebest]

She smiles very sweetly.

"Wouldn't it just."

[childofrebellion]

He nods and finishes off the last tamale,

"Yes though droids are still droids and have programming."

[messwiththebest]

Sombra scoffs again.

"And you think people do not have programming? Cassian, Cassian, I am disappointed."

[childofrebellion]

"I didn't say that, you did. Of course people behave in ways that can be manipulated. Its just slightly harder to wipe or reset a person's programming. I was thinking about the problem of nanites,"

He's disappointed that she would think he would think that way.

They are both just going to have to cope with their disappointment.

"Oh, slightly. Hmmph."

Cassian shrugs at her sound, he's found droids take a different kind of work to make them behave than people. Then stands up,

"I should be going, we should be if you're still interested."

[messwiththebest]

Sombra has a very particular perspective on this issue. It happens.

She also stands, checking to make sure all her supplies are with her.

(They always are.)

"I am ready when you are, my friend."

Perhaps someday he can learn more about her perspective, he's curious but knows she rarely shares. He doesn't either, its one reason they understand each other, "I am."

Cassian does his own quick check and then heads to the door to open onto a busy street nearing a port with buildings pressing in.

It is always good to have dreams and aspirations!

"How far is your ship?" Sombra asks, just before stepping through the door and out onto the street.

"Not far, if you see where the buildings are taller, that's the spaceport,"

As they get nearer, there are small crowds as pilots wrangle for passengers and a few 'troopers watching it all.

Sombra keeps an eye on things via her peripheral vision, but otherwise walks like a person with purpose.

It's always the better plan!

This port has a mixture of species and as they pass through a gate the architecture changes.

Now there are various landing pads and Cassian starts out to one of the ends, not all the way but almost. They're less guarded which is worth a longer walk.

Sombra would start tossing her translocator around, in order to better explore, but the mission seems to be somewhere after boarding the ship, so that would be a waste.

Cassian turns into one of the bays where a U-wing is docked and pulls out a comm from his pocket,

"Kay, I'm back with an invited guest."

[rebel_droid]

"A guest? Why would you bring a guest?" comes the reply back over the comm.

Shortly after the door of the ship opens and Kay is standing there.

"I don't like guests."

[messwiththebest]

"Kay!"

Sombra mimes being shot in the heart.

"I am wounded to hear our friendship means so little to you."

(She is not wounded in the least, this is hilarious.)

“I owe her after helping me before, be nice,” He hops into the shop and offers Sombra his hand.

[rebel_droid]

Kay's head tilts and he studies the woman.

Turning to Cassian, Kay gives a nod in Sombra's direction.

"We are not friends," he informs Cassian. "Does she know another Kay?"

Which is to say, has Cassian been hanging out with other droids???

Regardless, Kay steps aside and gestures them both in.

Sombra just laughs, bright and delighted.

"Oh, Kay. All of my friends say that to me!"

At least Reaper, Widowmaker, and Doomfist do. Probably Katya Volskaya, too. Go figure.
