Preparation and Raid

Cassian pats the shuttle as he gets off, nodding to the pilot before stepping off and starting towards Ops and Draven.

If he reports first then he can find Kay and get some rest perhaps even see if whoever's cooking needs help. As he walks back, he notes the extra movement and wonders which of the possible raids is going ahead.

He gets a few nods but not that many, he's not around that much and tends to keep to himself, its safer in the long run.

Cassian nods and starts towards Ops, "Have you been helping with loading ships?"

Kat falls in to walk alongside Cassian.

"It was requested that I assist." Which is neither a yes nor a no.

Its phrasing that Cassian's heard before from Kay as they enter Ops and Draven looks up, "Andor, good you're back. We can use you on the upcoming raid."

"Sir, I have my report and gathered some useful intel," Ops is busy with preparations and people coming and going, so Cassian hands over the datachip."

Draven says as he takes it, "Good, find me once you've unpacked and eaten. There won't be much time before leaving again. And keep an eye on your droid, he'll be accompanying you."

Cassian gives a sharp nod before turning to leave and heading towards the bunk he was using last time he was on base.

"Cassian, you should rest," Kay says, on the one-hand pleased to be going with Cassian this time, and on the other not liking Cassian being sent out again so soon.

In his bunk, Cassian unpacks and stretches his shoulders as he sits on the bed, it would be nice to get some proper sleep,

"You've been watching the preparations. How long do you think we have before leaving?"

"The first group is already underway." It was them Kay was sort of helping with before Cassian arrived.

"If you unpack very slow you might miss the second." And then Cassian could rest while waiting for the next group to be assigned, which sounds like a great plan to Kay.

"I do still need to eat and Draven did tell me to. If you can get me some food from the mess, I'll take a quick nap before reporting,"

They can make this work.

"Good."

Kay turns and strides right out before Cassian has a chance to change his mind.

Cassian doesn't take off his boots just lies down on the bunk and closes his eyes.

Soon he's sleeping with a few tosses and turns but after days sitting in a seat, its a decent rest.

Kay returns with food, but doesn't wake Cassian.

Eating can wait in the name of sleep, so Kay puts the tray down nearby and stands guard for Cassian, ready to chase off anyone who might come by thinking to wake him.

At one point Cassian stifles a scream in his sleep and curls up on himself trying to be warmer and safer.

Kay carrying a tray is hard to miss and the message was passed to Draven who waits almost two hours before sending someone. When there's a knock, Cassian wakes up, blinking at Kay, the tray and the noise.

Two hours is hardly enough rest by Kay's estimation, and so when the knock comes he steps up to the door, calling out through it, "Cassian is not available. Go away."

"Kay, its alright, I'm awake. Let them in,"

Perhaps he can sleep more on the transport.

[rebel_droid]

Begrudgingly Kay opens the door and then steps back out of the way.

"You still have to eat," he reminds Cassian.

"General Draven said you might say that, this is the mission briefing. We'll be leaving in half an hour, sir," The young human messenger passes over a datachip and leaves, eyeing Kay cautiously.

Cassian says first to the messenger and then to Kay, "Thank you, I'll be there soon. And I'm eating."

Kay ignores that look and brings the datachip over to Cassian.

"How were things at the swoop races?" Kay asks, standing by as Cassian eats.

"Good, I found the intel I needed and there was only one horrible crash,"

As he eats, he slots the datachip in and scans the mission briefing, a raid and he and Kay will be covering a route along with looking for other opportunities. Then he hands it to Kay to read.

Kay looks over the briefing, reaching one hand out to nudge the tray, just to make sure Cassian keeps eating.

"I suppose you were in the middle of that crash," he says, certain that even on a low-danger mission Cassian somehow found a way to become endangered, just as Kay knew he would.

At the nudge, Cassian goes back to eating and shrugs,

"I was closer than I wanted to be but not in the middle of it."

"You were in danger," Kay concludes, "And alone. I could have been at the races, too."

Sticking out like a sore thumb, but that is beside the point.

[childofrebellion]

"I was in the stands, everyone was in danger. No, you wouldn't have blended in well. This next mission, you'll be an asset, help the rest of us not draw too much attention,"

Kay's worry for him is reassuring and he's glad that this is a larger raid. Even though they won't be in with everyone else, its nice to not work as alone.

Kay doesn't agree, but he's mollified at least knowing he'll be there this time.

"It seems a rather straightforward plan," he notes, handing the plans back to Cassian.

"It does. I don't need to change too much of what I'm bringing,"

He finishes the last few bites and considers his pack before changing out a few things in it. Then yawns as he stands up, "That should be everything, I'll try and nap in the transport."

Satisfied when Cassian finishes his food, Kay falls in ready to follow.

Cassian stands up and grabs his tray and pack, "Let's go."

Outside the bustle of the base is quieter and a pilot waves to them from another transport.
