Convention with Yamato II

A nice benefit of this hotel is they will bring caf up to their room in the morning along with breakfast to give them some privacy in the mornings.

Cassian has pulled up the itinerary of the day, "Part of our entry allows access to the hangar with the ships and that's up for today. So you can properly look into the engines."

Yamato is geeking out a little right now, just without letting any of it show.

"Do you have any suggestions as to where to start?"

Just in case Cassian has any objectives they need to accomplish here.

"Our first meeting isn't for an hour, there's time to explore."

Cassian wanted time to scope things out as well as giving Yamato a chance to explore.

"Plenty of time to have a little fun, then."

'Fun' here meaning 'looking at some engines,' but, you know.

Yamato skims his gaze over the room, clocking the entrances and exits first, then looking back around to see where the starfighters are.

The starfighters are along the edges with the larger passenger and transport crafts in the center.

While there are some 'troopers here, there are fewer than in the main room.

Yamato makes a beeline for the sleekest, fastest looking starfighter he can see, raising a hand in greeting to the shipbuilder as he approaches.

Its a Corellian ship and the shipbuilder returns the greeting and climbs down the from the ladder to start giving their sales pitch about the starfighter. Cassian follows close behind, this is the one he would have headed to as well.

Yamato listens intently to the sales pitch, just quietly picking out the useful pieces of information from the marketing patois.

"How does it handle? And how fast does it go, for that matter?"

"One of our lightest handlers, takes barely a touch before it responds to you. Come on up and take a look,"

Then he adds more information about the possible speeds and the smooth transition of the hyperdrive. Cassian's now peering into the open engine and noting details.

"Thank you," Yamato says, heading up with the shipbuilder, and listening closely to all of the details. After all, maybe there will be one in the garage at Milliways. It's possible.

"Are you looking to buy something? This isn't our most popular model but our newest. Everything can also be adjusted for your own tastes."

From the quality of his clothing, his man is definitely hoping that Yamato might be a sale.

"I am contemplating making a purchase," Yamato says, diplomatically. "Although it may be necessary to make some arrangements back home before I do."

"I understand. Would you like to have a seat to see how it feels for you." Its a fairly spacious compartment.

"Of course," Yamato says, settling into the compartment. It's roomier than the sims back at Milliways, and definitely roomier than the sims at Yokota Air Base, where even the two or three hours he gets to use them every week feel like an adventure in claustrophobia.

"It's rather well-designed," he notes, "you've done good work."

"Thank you. I've been folded up so was able to add some input, but everything's still right where you need it."

Its a clever design. Cassian moves up the ladder to take a look as well.

"What's the model called?" Yamato asks, raising an eyebrow. "Or has it not been named yet?"

"The one for the higher ups is that its part of the Y series, we've been calling it Saber."

The engineer leans into share that information noting both their faces. Cassian smiles at that choice of name.

"Fascinating," Yamato smiles. "It certainly is an excellent craft."

"One of the best here." He says with a satisfied smirk as there's a bang in the hangar.

In another part of the hangar, a couple of toughs are wiggling one of the ships. Cassian moves down the ladder and drifts slightly towards the action to see who's involved.

Yamato clambers out of the craft as well, sliding down the ladder and joining Cassian, scowling at said toughs.

... Maybe also sizing up which one of them would make for the most enjoyable fight. He knows he probably can't, not with his cover, but hey, he can still dream.

None of them are large except for one Gamorrean doing most of the posturing.

"They with the Hutts?" Cassian asks in a low voice.

The salesperson nods and now its possible to see that the ship belongs to Pan's company. They seem to be done with their fun but there's an audible threat of, "Pay up."

... Huh. Some kind of debt thing. Yamato shouldn't get involved, this is definitely a bad idea for the mission.

He still finds himself striding over there, affecting a general aura of slightly bewildered foppishness.

"Ah! Pan, my dear fellow," he says, shouldering past the enforcers as though he doesn't even notice them, "Just the man I was looking for."

Cassian follows behind him, holding onto his cover as Pan gives a nervous glance to Yamato.

"Oh, I didn't expect to see you today."

"I like to check up on my friends," Yamato says, warmly. "And there seemed to be some commotion here with this marvellous ship of yours. Tell me, what model is this?"

"Our jewel," Pan turns on the charm as he caresses an inlay with the cladding, "Isn't she beautiful?"

Cassian listens as the toughs go out of the hangar, muttering about getting paid.

"She is. A racing craft?"

Yamato reckons it's small enough to be an air superiority fighter, but he can't see any weapons.
