Convention with Gabe

Cassian's waiting at the counter for Gabe, today should be a good day for him to see the convention. And Gabe's eye for weapons will be useful for looking into the shadier deals that are happening and where Yamato's cover will stand out a little too much.

Cassian's dressed in his Willix cover of a neat blue suit.

"My cover's name is Willix, low level bureaucrat that's currently working for as Yamato's cover personal assistant. I'm showing you around, but I don't think you'll get too many questions."

Gabe's got the kind of look that people tend to avoid.

Alright, brass tacks. He lets his smile fade, listening intently.

"Do I address you as Mr. Willix? And is Yamato using a cover name?" What does he call him?

He crosses his arms, putting a slight scowl on his face and a touch of growl in his voice. "Do you need me intimidating?" It's basically what he does every day as Captain Reyes.

"Just Willix and he's Master Ilo, he's working on something else so we probably won't see him. Only if you want to be or feel a need for it. You're a guest of Yamato's family, someone they're considering hiring for security work."

Its a simple enough cover but provides enough to be background.

Less scowl, then, but still a touch of gruff. Imposing but not necessarily intimidating. Okay to be obvious about keeping an eye on his surroundings.

He shifts his stance and posture again, softening some from the Captain. He should probably switch up his speech pattern, too. Professionals that work for people with money don't usually talk the way Gabe does.

"I understand. Is this to be my trial run?"

"No, you're through the first round. Now you're advising on how best to arm some ships. Which gives you a reason to walk around and look at what you want in the hall with me taking notes beside you."

If they're talking sea ships he could actually do that. Could probably adapt it to spaceships on the fly. Maybe.

He lets a bit of his smirk return. "And what're we actually looking for?"

"Any new weapons that seem to be hitting the market. The newest will end up used by the Empire and the criminals with credits. And whatever else you happen to hear."

He nods slowly, considering.

"I think I'd have an excuse to actively pursue leads as a security consultant," he suggests, unsure as to how risky that would be.

"You will. Ready to go through?"

He wants to make sure he's covered everything that Gabe might think of.

He smiles, polite and controlled as befits his role. "Let's do it."

Help Cassian learn about new weapons on the market, and maybe enjoy the show and space and being in a galaxy far, far away this is really happening yes.

He keeps the bounce out of his step.

Cassian opens the Front Door onto a small hallway just off the main convention floor.

Through the smaller door in front of them, ships gleam and a mixed group of Rodians, humans and a lone Pantoran go down the aisle. He gestures to Gabe to head through with a small smile.

This is so freaking cool.

He nods at Cassian as he passes through, smile fading to a more neutral expression. He doesn't stare at anything instead letting his gaze slide over the aliens and ships. He waits for Cassian to join him at the shoulder before he starts a leisurely stroll down the aisle.

"And did Master Ilo have a preference?" He gestures to the ships, keeping his voice pitched just loud enough to be heard over the sounds of the convention.

"He prefers anything he works with to be elegant and discrete."

Cassian's manner has shifted so that he's made himself seem smaller and his voice more nervous.

"So something subtle with clean lines," Gabriel murmurs, appraising the ships as they walk past.

He adds a smidge more authority to his tone and a touch of disregard, reacting to Cassian's nervousness. "This ship would be more for personal use?" How many passengers does he need to account for?

"With some details, he likes everything to look just so. Yes, when he's going on personal trips with an astromech and maybe one other person. He likes control when he can get it."

He looks down to his datapad as if reminding himself of his notes.

"Are speed an maneuverability a factor?"

He pauses in front of one of the ships, considering how well it would fit the bill and glancing around for any signs detailing specs.

There's a screen projecting cross section and specs as well as a salesperson and droid who notice them.

The droid, a protocol droid approaches as the salesperson is talking to a serious and ornately dressed Munn who glances at them then ignores them. "How may I answer your questions about our new Starvette."

Not an omnic, he reminds himself sharply as the droid approaches. It's fine. He can punch its fucking head off, it's fine.

He forces his shoulders to relax as he glances over the screen. "I'm in the market for a personal craft," he says smoothly, raising one eyebrow. "Something nimble. Nothing flashy."

The look he gives the ship implies he's not impressed by it.

"Our Starvette is the finest personal craft on the market. You will find it customizable and will meet all of your needs. Would you like a listing of your possible options?" The droid begins to set the holoprojector to a preset display.

Cassian notes that tension and before the droid gets too far into its pitch says, "I think we'd like to look around on our own."

Way to drop the ball, Gabe.

He rolls with it, though. "There's still quite a few ships to view." His tone takes a slight condescending turn. "Can't be dazzled by the first shiny coat of paint, after all."

"No, sir, best to see all that we can."

Gabe hasn't ruined anything, Cassian didn't know how he would react to the various droids. Cassian moves toward a display that's next door with a ship that looks almost like a shark with sleek hidden weapons with a front console that can be walked into.

Gabe didn't know he'd react like that, but in retrospect it's kind of obvious. Now that he knows he should be able to keep himself under better control.

He likes the look of this ship, but would Master Ilo approve? He steps into the console area, appraising the available room. The hidden weapons might provide an opening for what they're really here for, though.

"I'm not certain this is big enough for Master Ilo's needs." He runs a hand along the edge of the console. "The armaments are a nice touch, however."

"How big is the rest of the ship?" Cassian asks, ready to help as this time a Pantoran man comes over.

"There's space for sleeping quarter as every piece of the ship is used. If you look here you can see how it all connects. And we provide modifications including those for defense."

Gabriel raises his eyebrows in mild interest, half for the specs and half for the alien.

"Do tell me more."

It still seems a bit on the small side, but it seems worth adding to his 'list'.

"Our most popular modifications involve defense, if you look here you'll see how there's a max capacity of two forward weapons. This comes with a shield at the basic level but that can be improved and the space inside can be reconfigured."

The model is turned to show new options as Cassian takes notes especially of the weapon choices.
