Swoop Races with Barry and Cisco

The door opens onto a decently lit alley with building's reaching up, ships overhead and a crowd of various alien races moving in the cross-street.

Cassian holds it for Barry and Cisco to walk out, searching up for surveillance and listening for 'trooper boots, "Welcome to Corsin.

"No, when I was younger, we'd sometimes race if there was space with whatever vehicles we had. I always liked flying better, less chance of running into anything. Go ask if you want, it all depends on the swoop,"

And in his experience, mechanics and racers like to brag.

"I'll ask him!" Cisco says quickly, jumping at the opportunity. "Hey yo, man, what're you clocking on this thing?"

Barry chuckles at Cassian's reply. "And I'd prefer to stick to the ground, because there's less chance of falling out of the sky."

When Cisco takes lead on asking strangers questions Barry watches, eager to hear the answer, but also ready to corral his friend if it becomes necessary.

The racer looks up from the engine, showing a human male face, "I can crack 200 miles per hour in the right conditions. There's not a space piece on my corsair, all she wants to do is go."

Cassian nods at Barry and walks closer to hear the answer.

"Yeah? That's pretty fast," Cisco nods. "It a long gain for speed, or does she punch it right away?"

Barry stands by, perhaps smirking just a tiny bit knowing he could outrun the machine.

"He wants to know how long it takes for you to reach top speed," he says, in case Cisco's question needs translation.

"She takers her time about it, but once she's going no one can catch her. Do you have a bike and why does your friend think you need translating?"

The racer leans on the swoop while talking to Cisco. Cassian sees Barry's smirk and smiles, he's glad they're enjoying themselves.

"Not everyone gets my lingo," he replies with a grin. "I've lost this guy here a few times."

He jerks his thumb at Cassian and laughs.

"But we're cool, right? I don't have a bike, but I know a thing or three about engineering."

"You win a lot of races?" Barry asks, even more eager now to see the swoop bikes in action.

"I'm a pilot. I have my own lingo. I've seen you win some, won a few credits too," Cassian says with a smile that makes the racer beam.

"Of course, I'm Howl Grison and I'm almost at the top of the Chronium leaderboard," He gestures up to one of the many floating screens that's rotating through ads, announcements and rankings.

Both young men look up to the screen and smile.

"That's great."

"Hey man, you mind if we get a picture with you and your bike?" Cisco asks, gesturing between himself and Barry and pointing at Howl.

Howl smirks and goes to pose while Cassian says,

"I'll take it so everyone can be in the shot. Don't want to lose any of that glorious swoop."

"Sweet," Cisco says, passing off the pad so he and Barry can pose with the man and his bike.

Barry is all grins for the picture, then gives Howl a grateful smile and nod when it's taken.

"Thanks, man. Good luck in the races today."

"I'll be in the fifth race," Howl says after beaming for the picture.

Cassian hands Cisco the pad back and nods, "We should get our seats. They're not too bad," In one of his conversations on other topics, someone brought up the tickets and it ended up he could use them.

"We'll be rooting for you, dude," Cisco says, giving the man a thumbs up.

[run_barry]

"Cool, let's go," Barry says, ready to follow Cassian again through the crowd, eager to see the start of the races.

After a little orienting, they end up on a tier not too far from the track with a good view of a tight corner. Cassian settles back, noting exits and smiling, "I didn't realize the seats were this good, but my friend who has them has been coming for a lot of races."

Perhaps friend isn't accurate but its the most useful word, since asset would sound odd.

There's a bit of a discussion-not-quite-argument on who is sitting where between Barry and Cisco, but the two get settled in with Barry on the end and Cisco in between beside Cassian.

"Wow, it's a really great view," Barry says, looking over the track.

[makes_the_toys]

"I mean, it's not court-side at the Miners, but it's not bad," Cisco says, not wanting to give Cassian too much credit.

Not that Cisco's ever been court-side, before.

“Miners, what kind of team are they?”

He’s not sure if Barry’s trying to help by having Cisco between them, but he’s curious to see how things go. There’s a blare that makes Cassian flinch before the announcer readies the first race.

"Basketball," Barry answers Cassian, before shooting Cisco a sidelong look. "And you have never been that close at a game, Cisco."

Barry would certainly prefer it if his friends got along, and bringing them here was a really nice gesture on Cassian's part, so it is Barry's hope this fixes more things between them.

"I've seen pictures," Cisco counters. "Nicholson is always posting pics of his sweet seats."

The blare makes them both sit up, and Cisco asks excitedly, "Which way are they coming from?"

"That way,"

Cassian points at the swoops at another curve of the stadium. Then suddenly they're flying by, jostling and zipping by.
