Mission with Yamato

Cassian reviews the mission briefing and identicard that he's put together for Yamato. This is the sort of mission that he needs Yamato's skills for, but he wants to insure that Yamato has all of the intel before he agrees to anything.

He sips his caf at the counter as he waits and adjusts some code on his datapad.

"I'm inclined to agree," Yamato says, somewhat warmly. "Not that I would mind if the scales skewed a little further towards excitement than security."

"I've been told that there might be another race other than the official one, but that's only a rumor."

Pan says with a small smile and glance at Yamato and over to Cassian.

"I admit, that rumour passed me by," Yamato says, cracking a smile. "Who's bankrolling such a race? Someone of means and taste, no doubt."

"I don't know for certain but I believe they work for the Hutts." Pan pulls a datachip from his jacket, offering it to Yamato as he moves the plate of goodies toward him,

"Try this one, the fruit in it can only be found on one planet when the stars are just right."

Yamato makes an amused noise in the back of his throat, pocketing the datachip. "Trust an employee of the Hutts to know how to have a good time, I suppose."

He inclines his head a little as the plate of moved towards him, taking one of the goodies and trying it.

"A rarefied flavour," he remarks, after a moment.

"Yes, they do have some of the most interesting parties. I'm glad that you approve, we have a color of cladding that I find reminds me of that tea,"

Pan moves one of the pieces over, the metal seems to shift in the light in various shades of greens.

"Truly beautiful," Yamato says, with somewhat muted enthusiasm. "I was informed you were still working on this new cladding of yours, but it seems rather close to being market-ready."

He pauses for a moment, before giving a short laugh. "-- If you'll forgive my eagerness in saying so. I admit, I'm always on the hunt for ways to improve my family's ships."

"This is only a prototype but what we have ready isn't in large quantities. Perhaps you could consider placing an order. Please take this with you to see if it meets up to your specifications."

Pan pushes the piece of metal over along with a catalog. Cassian straightens up to see if he needs to carry something.

Yamato doesn't turn to look at Cassian, but he does raise his hand and just flick his fingers twice, to indicate he should take both the sample and the catalog.

Cassian stands up and with little motion, picks up the prototype and catalog, slipping them into the small bag he carries.

Pan smiles and keys a display that's on the table to project images of ships, "This is what we're working on. All of these are customizable of course."

"Fascinating," Yamato remarks, peering at the ships. "They certainly look like -- worthwhile vessels."

"Do you prefer any particular design?"

Pan leans forward and almost spins the projected images. Cassian smiles into his datapad.

All right, may as well be honest.

"Something with speed and manoeuvrability, ideally. I cannot stand those stodgy puddle jumpers some people like to fly."

"I think you'd enjoy our Inko class model, we call it the Starspeeder," Pan brings up an image of a ship that's all sleek lines and starts to reel off a list of specs.

Yamato leans forward a little, raising a hand to rotate the image around, looking at it from all angles as he listens to Pan's list of specs.

"An intriguing proposition, certainly."

"You'd have to come to our factory to try it but we're happy with its possibilities," Pan brings up the interior images of the ship.

In the hall, there's the sound of raised voices and Cassian stands up to peer around the wall to see if they need to be worried. The entourages of a criminal cartel either Hutt or possibly Black Sun is facing off with a couple of TIE pilots.

Yamato's eyes flick over to the wall, then to Cassian, then back to Pan. Those raised voices are concerning, but he trusts Cassian to say if there's something they need to be concerned about.

"I would be honoured to pay your factory a visit. Or at least send a representative, should my schedule not allow for it," he says to Pan. "No doubt Willix can make all the arrangements with you."

Cassian's tensed and Pan looks up and over, there are sounds that only those who serve in the Empire make.

No blaster fire yet but the voices continue to be raised as the voice of a protocol droid can be heard trying to calm everyone down.

"Begging your pardon," Yamato says to Pan, setting his tea down and standing, approaching Cassian at the wall.

He leans in close enough that Pan -- and anybody else -- won't be able to hear them, whispering: "Someone get on the Empire's bad side?"

Before Cassian has a chance to answer, a punch is thrown. Then one of the TIE pilots fires a blaster, winging the shoulder of the Rodian who threw the punch, "That's enough."

The quiet falls abruptly as everyone is suddenly somewhere else and Cassian moves back so that the pilots don't see him looking.

Yamato draws back as well, heading back towards Pan.

"Perhaps," he says, rather airily, as though the scuffle outside doesn't bother him at all, "that concludes our business for the moment."

Pan nods, "Yes, I think that would be best. Please contact me if there's anything I can do for you."

Cassian gives a small nod and bow to Pan then looks to Yamato to let him give their goodbye.

"I'm sure we'll be in touch," Yamato says, with the briefest of bows. "Until then, do stay safe."

With that done, he gives Cassian a quick, somewhat imperious -- they do still have appearances to keep up, after all -- nod, to indicate they should get going.

Cassian backs up to give Yamato the lead once more but still being close by. Now the hall is quieter as no one wants too much attention brought to them. The 'troopers are more obvious now in their perimeter.

Yamato takes a moment to register each of the stormtroopers' locations and routes, then sighs quietly.

"Well, the man was a dreadful boor, Willix," he says, airily, keeping his voice quiet. "But we may have acquired something of use."

He doesn't quite pat the pocket where the datachip they were given is, but he makes tiny gesture towards it with two fingers.
