Convention with Yamato II

A nice benefit of this hotel is they will bring caf up to their room in the morning along with breakfast to give them some privacy in the mornings.

Cassian has pulled up the itinerary of the day, "Part of our entry allows access to the hangar with the ships and that's up for today. So you can properly look into the engines."

"That will be interesting," Yamato says disinterestedly as he sips his coffee. "A chance to see if these shipbuilders are as skilled as they claim."

For all of his relatively cold demeanour, he's actually vibrating with excitement like an overenthusiastic puppy on the inside. Ships! And their engines! It's kind of a dream come true.

"That's my hope. Our first stop will be with the Corellian builders who's sim that you tried. Then we will have some time to look around while meeting with Pan later in the day."

"Ah, I did like those Corellians. If the actual ship lives up to the sim, I'm sure they'll be doing well for themselves," Yamato says, with a little bit of cheer. "And it'll be good to see Pan again. And the thrilling world of cladding."

Cladding actually is pretty thrilling, in Yamato's view, but still.

"Perhaps it might be more interesting at scale."

Cassian's being Willix and being cautious as he wants his boss to be happy.

"Perhaps. And dry as the topic is, I suppose it is part of the necessary business of building ships," Yamato says, agreeably.

"It is, yes and allows for some of your favorite aspects of ships, the customization. I know you don't like anyone else having your ship."

"You make that sound like a failing, Willix," Yamato says, just a little chidingly. "It's important for people to know what's yours, and not to forget it."

He says that last in the most condescending tone he can muster. Since they're less at risk of being seen than being heard, he couples it with an apologetic grimace.

"I'm sorry, sir. You're right."

Cassian gives a little smile away from the camera to nod in understanding.

"Of course I am," Yamato says airily. "That's only natural."

"Do you need anything before we leave?"

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Ah, no, I believe I have everything of import."

"Good,"

He stands up, finishing his last sip of caf. This is the day that Cassian's looking forward the most too.

Yamato drains the rest of his caf, setting the cup down and just barely managing to resist the urge to organise everything so that it's neat and easy for the hotel staff to clear away.

"Shall we?"

"Yes," Cassian shifts their cups a little closer together before heading out and this time goes down a different street toward a hangar.

Once they show their badges, they're let into a place that is packed with ships. There's still an attempt at display but not in the same way as in the hall. This is a working space.

Yamato is geeking out a little right now, just without letting any of it show.

"Do you have any suggestions as to where to start?"

Just in case Cassian has any objectives they need to accomplish here.

"Our first meeting isn't for an hour, there's time to explore."

Cassian wanted time to scope things out as well as giving Yamato a chance to explore.

"Plenty of time to have a little fun, then."

'Fun' here meaning 'looking at some engines,' but, you know.

Yamato skims his gaze over the room, clocking the entrances and exits first, then looking back around to see where the starfighters are.

The starfighters are along the edges with the larger passenger and transport crafts in the center.

While there are some 'troopers here, there are fewer than in the main room.

Yamato makes a beeline for the sleekest, fastest looking starfighter he can see, raising a hand in greeting to the shipbuilder as he approaches.

Its a Corellian ship and the shipbuilder returns the greeting and climbs down the from the ladder to start giving their sales pitch about the starfighter. Cassian follows close behind, this is the one he would have headed to as well.

Yamato listens intently to the sales pitch, just quietly picking out the useful pieces of information from the marketing patois.

"How does it handle? And how fast does it go, for that matter?"

"One of our lightest handlers, takes barely a touch before it responds to you. Come on up and take a look,"

Then he adds more information about the possible speeds and the smooth transition of the hyperdrive. Cassian's now peering into the open engine and noting details.

"Thank you," Yamato says, heading up with the shipbuilder, and listening closely to all of the details. After all, maybe there will be one in the garage at Milliways. It's possible.

"Are you looking to buy something? This isn't our most popular model but our newest. Everything can also be adjusted for your own tastes."

From the quality of his clothing, his man is definitely hoping that Yamato might be a sale.

"I am contemplating making a purchase," Yamato says, diplomatically. "Although it may be necessary to make some arrangements back home before I do."
