Mission with Yamato

Cassian reviews the mission briefing and identicard that he's put together for Yamato. This is the sort of mission that he needs Yamato's skills for, but he wants to insure that Yamato has all of the intel before he agrees to anything.

He sips his caf at the counter as he waits and adjusts some code on his datapad.

"Lighter weight cladding. Fascinating."

It actually is pretty fascinating, but Yamato's tone is dripping with sarcasm nonetheless.

He scans the itinerary, lifting an eyebrow a little as he takes all the information in. Briskly: "Well, let's not keep the fellow waiting."

"He's working on elegant ships like those that used to be built on Naboo. I know how you appreciate form and function working together."

Again he flips through the datapad to find an image of a sleek ship.

Grudgingly: "I do appreciate an appropriately beautiful ship."

... Oh god, that really is a pretty ship. If it actually flies fast, Yamato might be a little bit in love.

"Perhaps the fellow has some talent after all."

In a few steps, they approach the booth which is full of beautiful cladding, there's almost a mirror effect.

A well dressed and slightly nervous middle aged man spots them and gestures them over, "Mister Ilo and Willix, please come in. I've prepared your favorite tea and have some treats that I do hope you will enjoy."

Yamato touches a hand to his collarbone and bows, just a little, before straightening up.

"Very considerate of you. My thanks," he says, in a markedly more courteous tone than the one he's been talking to Cassian with.

The man, Otros Pan returns the bow and gestures into a room where all the surfaces that aren't soft use the cladding.

There are different colors, even inlays on the low table which has tea and a selection of small and elegant pastries. Cassian moves to sit in a bench that's almost hidden in the side of the space as a small droid appears with hot tea.

On one side of the table is a selection of claddings over a catalog for later, "I hope this meets your approval."

"Of course. The effort is very much appreciated," Yamato says, levelly. "I hope it wasn't too arduous to travel here and find accommodation? The convention seems like it will be rather busy this year."

"No, I was able to find something that works for me. What about you? Are you pleased with your hotel?"

Pan sits down across from Yamato with an attentive look as the droid pours out the tea, the flavor has sweet and smoky notes with a subtle flower taste.

"It is sufficient for my purposes," Yamato says, diplomatically. "Thank you."

He takes the tea, rather delicately, taking a few moments to inhale the aroma before taking a sip.

Around them its quiet though there is the tromp of 'trooper boots out beyond the room.

Pan tenses before drinking his own tea, turning the tiny cup in his hands.

Yamato notices that noise -- it'd be difficult not to -- but he doesn't react.

"And I trust you are well?" He asks, taking a quick sip of his tea.

"Yes, I enjoy the chance to travel and have been to Jelucan before. I find it combines the excitement of the Outer Rim with some of the security of the Core."

Pan's slipping into a practiced line but there's some honesty in his smile.

"I'm inclined to agree," Yamato says, somewhat warmly. "Not that I would mind if the scales skewed a little further towards excitement than security."

"I've been told that there might be another race other than the official one, but that's only a rumor."

Pan says with a small smile and glance at Yamato and over to Cassian.

"I admit, that rumour passed me by," Yamato says, cracking a smile. "Who's bankrolling such a race? Someone of means and taste, no doubt."

"I don't know for certain but I believe they work for the Hutts." Pan pulls a datachip from his jacket, offering it to Yamato as he moves the plate of goodies toward him,

"Try this one, the fruit in it can only be found on one planet when the stars are just right."

Yamato makes an amused noise in the back of his throat, pocketing the datachip. "Trust an employee of the Hutts to know how to have a good time, I suppose."

He inclines his head a little as the plate of moved towards him, taking one of the goodies and trying it.

"A rarefied flavour," he remarks, after a moment.

"Yes, they do have some of the most interesting parties. I'm glad that you approve, we have a color of cladding that I find reminds me of that tea,"

Pan moves one of the pieces over, the metal seems to shift in the light in various shades of greens.

"Truly beautiful," Yamato says, with somewhat muted enthusiasm. "I was informed you were still working on this new cladding of yours, but it seems rather close to being market-ready."

He pauses for a moment, before giving a short laugh. "-- If you'll forgive my eagerness in saying so. I admit, I'm always on the hunt for ways to improve my family's ships."

"This is only a prototype but what we have ready isn't in large quantities. Perhaps you could consider placing an order. Please take this with you to see if it meets up to your specifications."

Pan pushes the piece of metal over along with a catalog. Cassian straightens up to see if he needs to carry something.

Yamato doesn't turn to look at Cassian, but he does raise his hand and just flick his fingers twice, to indicate he should take both the sample and the catalog.

Cassian stands up and with little motion, picks up the prototype and catalog, slipping them into the small bag he carries.

Pan smiles and keys a display that's on the table to project images of ships, "This is what we're working on. All of these are customizable of course."

"Fascinating," Yamato remarks, peering at the ships. "They certainly look like -- worthwhile vessels."

"Do you prefer any particular design?"

Pan leans forward and almost spins the projected images. Cassian smiles into his datapad.

All right, may as well be honest.

"Something with speed and manoeuvrability, ideally. I cannot stand those stodgy puddle jumpers some people like to fly."
