Mission with Yamato

Cassian reviews the mission briefing and identicard that he's put together for Yamato. This is the sort of mission that he needs Yamato's skills for, but he wants to insure that Yamato has all of the intel before he agrees to anything.

He sips his caf at the counter as he waits and adjusts some code on his datapad.

"Seems fair. Even criminals need to travel," Yamato murmurs, sliding the datapad back into the bag.

"They do and they have the credits to spend. Feel ready to go? We'll be on a civilian transport."

"I'm ready," Yamato says, reaching over to pick up his bag and sling it over his shoulder.

Once they get closer to the convention, he figures he'll have to hand that bag over to Cassian -- if there's one thing a pampered rich kid definitely wouldn't do, it's carry his own bags -- but for now, he may as well take it.

Before they board, Cassian takes his bag and shows their tickets. The attendant shows them to a nice compartment in the back, thin walls but a measure of privacy.

Along the way, Yamato's followed by many eyes. Cassian's shifted his body language to make himself seem shorter and smaller as he gets everything sorted.

As Cassian shifts his body language, so does Yamato shift his. The air of authority he carries with him never really goes away, even when he's not trying -- but when he does try, altering his body language just a little, that authoritative aura becomes almost suffocating, outright demanding deference.

It's been a useful tool, over the years. Corralling large groups of Digimon into obeying your commands is fifty percent convincing them that you're the strongest person in the room, after all.

Once they have some privacy, he relaxes it a little, and sets about putting his bag down.

Its impressive to watch Yamato change and Cassian's grateful for the small amount of privacy they have.

"I ordered dinner, they have good service on this route. I booked that hotel you liked before with the good view."

The sighing noise Yamato makes has an abundance of disdain behind it.

"I suppose we'll see how good their service really is," he says, managing to sound both disinterested and unconvinced.

"I told them all your requests and you know I know them."

There's a knock with the call of dinner and a basic protocol droid enters asking,

"Is all up to your specifications?"

Yamato skims his eyes over the compartment, and then over the droid, with the minimum of movement.

"It will suffice," he allows.

The droid makes an affirmative noise before leaving, the food is hot, not very complex but good quality.

Then there's the strange sensation of entering hyperspace. Cassian looks over to Yamato to see how he's taking it.

It's a strange feeling, and Yamato's eyebrow rises just a little as it hits him -- but it's not so strange as passing through a Gate, and he doesn't seem all that perturbed by it.

Stranger than the actual physical sensation is the reminder that he's actually in space, something staggeringly few people from his world can say, and moreover, travelling between planets.

He can't exactly say any of that right now, though, so instead he digs into his food.

As this is a nicer quality compartment, there is a viewing window to watch the stars go blue.

"A smooth transition." Cassian says, its the kind of statement his cover would make, while providing an opening for Yamato to ask questions.

Yamato's gaze flicks over to Cassian, just for a moment.

Most of his questions are about the finer points of the engineering of the hyperdrive, and the physical principles they operate on, and he's not sure that Cassian has the time or the scientific expertise to answer them all.

"Very smooth," he remarks, mildly, instead. "When we return home, I'll be sure to look into the schematics of this particular shuttle."

Or 'I'll be sure to research hyperdrives.' Either one.

Cassian wouldn't have the expertise for all the whys of a hyperdrive running but could answer some of the hows and show an engine,

"They're a reliable model."

Yamato at least takes that opening, flicking his gaze over to Cassian again.

"Oh? What model are they?"

"A variation on the Star Commuter, larger version in the length so they can a private compartment or two out of it. Good finishings on this one."

He sips his caf and considers the improvements made to the ship.

"I've seen better," Yamato says, blandly, tracing a finger along the edge of the table like he's looking for dust. "But at least it's not a long trip."

"No, I can go over the itinerary with you to see if I've missed anything that you want to see."

Also a good way to review and plan without drawing attention.

"Please do," Yamato replies, settling his hand on his chin and staring out the window.

[childofrebellion]

"Once we're at the hotel, I'll take care of our registration. The hall opens tonight which is a good opportunity to learn the layout. I've marked the vendors I know you prefer to set up appointments. As well as a few talks on improvements that are in the works."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"Sounds like it'll be a hectic schedule," Yamato notes. "Still, I'm sure we can find something useful while we're there."

[childofrebellion]

"I believe so and I'm also investigating the best way to attend the starfighter race."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

Yamato may crack an excited grin at that, just for a moment.

"Hopefully it'll be a better show than the last one I attended," he says, rather flatly, even though he's still grinning a little. "I swear half of those fellows didn't know how to fly."

"No, they tried but this one should get better pilots."

[angry_friendship_wolf]

"I do hope so. Nothing like watching a good race to get the blood pumping."
